Ryan Eanes, Ph.D., IPC is an award-winning educator and full-time faculty member at Temple University, Japan Campus Kyoto, as of January 2026. Previously, he was part of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations faculty within the Klein College of Media and Communication at Temple University, a position he assumed in 2019.
During that time, he developed the department’s brand new Psychology of Advertising course, melding psychological theories with marketing applications. He also authored a textbook, Insightful Branding: People-Centric Tactics for Building Brands, published by Kendall Hunt Publishing Company, to accompany his popular Introduction to Brand Strategy & Research course.
After graduating from Wake Forest University with a B.A. in Communication in 2003 (along with minors in Psychology and Digital Art), Eanes joined Bill Me, Inc., a privately-owned media consultancy based in New York City and affiliated with Fox News Channel, Westwood One, and Fox News Radio. Nearly a decade in this role provided invaluable insights into consumer behaviors associated with the consumption of cable TV, social media channels, websites, and mobile media.
Before earning his Ph.D. in Media Studies from the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication, Dr. Eanes earned his M.A. in Media Studies at The New School in New York. Since then, he has become one of a distinguished few to have earned the Master-level Insights Professional Certification (IPC) from the Insights Association, underscoring his commitment to marketing research and education.
His research agenda focuses on the “degrowth” movement and its interface with the advertising industry and consumer culture, and he has presented work on this topic at conferences including the Media Ecology Association and the Association for Consumer Research.
Dr. Eanes lives in Kyoto with his not-so-trusty Shiba Inu puppy Bin, who remains a daily source of terror and exasperation.
